”It’s always dangerous in any country when you say, ‘We have this, except for you guys. Not you guys.’ Because you never know when you’re going to be piled into that group that doesn’t have freedom or whatever life affords everybody else. [The True Colors Tour] is an opportunity to step forward. I wanted to do it though the power of music and laughter and have information at people’s fingertips…. I’m not a politician, and I’m not a mathematician, but I do believe in equality. You’re gonna have to vote if you want everything equal because from what I remember from fourth or fifth grade, they always said, ‘Equal means the sum of all the parts.'”

  1. the buzz from A.:

Did she actually say “I’m not a politician, and I’m not a mathematician…”?! Ah, that brings warmth to my heart.

  2. the buzz from J.B.:

Yes, A, she did. She also mixed up the mathematical metaphor to the point where I’d rather shake my head at her phrasing rather than agree with her main point. 😉

  3. the buzz from Chip:

Did you see her on As the World Turns? On my birthday, no less? I was practically blubbering.

  4. the buzz from brandon:

She was terrific on “World Turns” last week! Noah’s little plot twist at the end of that episode, umm, not so much, but Lauper’s a treasure! Chip, why didn’t you tell me it was your birthday?! The Buzz woulda given you a shout-out!

Oh c’mon, Noah’s announcement was pure soap!
